Mother Teresa wasted little time. She decided to follow the same pattern of growth that had already proven so successful in India. The sisters would go to a new location and open up a house from which to serve the poorest and most destitute of the land—those who, like the untouchables of India, had been brushed aside and forgotten by their fellow citizens and neighbors. Once the house had been established, the sisters would begin to develop schools, orphanages, homes for the dying, and leper colonies, if applicable. Continuing to follow the lessons she had learned from the dinners her mother hosted so many years earlier, Mother Teresa would make the most of the money she had at hand. While ensuring that the mission provided adequate care to those who came there for help, they would always find ways to stretch their pennies so that they were able to serve all who were in need of their love and attention. They would also continue to wear the blue and white sari, as Mother Teresa had first donned years earlier, making them instantaneously recognizable throughout the world.
